Teachers in North Carolina
Mary Umbarger
Harmony, NC

I live in Harmony, NC, which is located 15 miles north of Statesville, 15 miles east of Mocksville, 15 miles south of Elkin, etc. I teach autoharp.

I have beginning and intermediate students at the present and am qualified to teach advanced.

I play with The Front Porch Strings of Statesville which is a band known for it's variety of music venues. We play Ole Time, some Bluegrass, Celtic and some Classical. We have two Cassettes and one CD.

Personally, I have produced a solo autoharp CD, 'So Many Tunes, So Little Time'. I write a column for the Autoharp Quarterly and also score music for the Kelt & Harp Magazine.

I offer reso guitar instruction (Bluegrass dobro).
32 yrs experience, Josh style.
I have taught reso to a few local folks who approached me over the years. I am not a full time reso teacher (Not nearly enough interest in reso in this immediate area).

I also play finger-style (Scruggs-style) guitar, and 5-string bluegrass banjo.

I teach beginner guitar for adults and children. I can teach students chord, tab, or note reading, with as much music theory as they desire incorporated with instruction. I have a degree in music education, and also teach brass & woodwind instruments. At our studio location we have instructors who teach advanced guitar, piano, and drumset.
