How Calton Cases are made...

Calton banjo case, available from The StringmanCalton custom fitted fiberglass instrument cases are rugged, well balanced, hard-shelled cases, tailored to each specific instrument. Each half of every case is hand molded in a single piece, using a pigmented resin. This produces a case with no seams to separate and color that is integral to the fiberglass. All hardware is nickel plated steel, attached to the case with steel rivets and reinforcing plates. Once installed, all rivets are coated in fiberglass resin. This "anchoring" of the hardware adds strength and increases both security and durability. Careful attention is also paid to the placement of the leather handle in order to provide the optimum in comfort and balance.

A PCV strip completely edges both the top and bottom halves of the case. This strip is strong, yet flexible, and combined with the natural water repellant qualities of fiberglass, provides an almost perfect seal against the elements.

The interiors of the cases are custom crafted from high quality foam padding using a minimum of 15 measurements and an actual template of the instrument and all surfaces are finished in imported 50% cotton and 50% viscose crushed velour. The generously sized pick box is topped with a large foam pad that cushions the neck. The neck is further protected with a padded neck guide that restricts the side to side movement without placing undue pressure on the instrument.

Calton cases are available in four sizes for guitar: Classic, OM, Jumbo and Super Jumbo, which will accommodate most guitars. Cases for mandolins, banjos, violins, and electric and acoustic basses are also available.
