Sam Bush slowly and carefully details the dominant mandolin styles from Bill Monroe to Newgrass. You'll see, up close, Sam's amazing right hand as he demonstrates crosspicking, rhythm chops and other techniques while teaching you tunes such as "Paddy On The Turnpike," "Grey Eagle," "Sugar Foot Rag," "Sapporo," "East Virginia Blues," "Wayfaring Stranger," "Manzanita," "Bill Cheatham," "Banks Of The Ohio" and "Sitting On Top Of The World."

With our split-screen video technique you'll easily be able to follow Sam's complex left-hand fretting as well. Invaluable for all mandolinists. You won't find a clearer, easier method for learning!

Review:

"Bush's commentary is informative and personal throughout. As with other Homespun videos featuring exemplary players, much of the value comes from seeing how they move their fingers as well as where they place them." - Sing Out! Magazine

Student Review:

I am so glad that I stumbled upon your catalog. I recently purchased the Sam Bush complete package and it has been wonderful. Your catalog opened up a whole new perspective in taking music lessons for me. With the help of the great Sam Bush, I have learned on my own so much more than I would have learned paying someone for lessons. I can always go back to a lesson if I want to work on something and listen to other lessons and get the basics while I am traveling. I have fallen in love with bluegrass and your instructional format has allowed me to progress at a faster pace than I would have stumbling through books.... I will be ordering from you again soon as my playing progresses. -- Ryan Kelly

About Sam Bush

Sam Bush is one of the most versatile and powerful musicians playing today, a first-rate mandolinist, fiddler and guitarist. After 18 years (and 13 albums) with the ground-breaking New Grass Revival, Sam toured internationally as a leader of Emmylou Harris' Nash Ramblers and, more recently, with Lyle Lovett’s band. An in-demand session player, Sam has recorded on albums by Leon Russell, Doc Watson, Steve Earle, Garth Brooks, Steve Wariner, Trisha Yearwood, Left Over Salmon and Pam Tillis, among many others. He has produced albums by Jon Randall and Chris Thile, and has joined forces with many of Nashville's "A-Team" of musicians in a variety of combinations, including the bluegrass supergroup Strength in Numbers. Sam’s solo CDs include "Glamour and Grits," “Late as Usual,” "Howlin' at the Moon" and his latest release, “Ice Caps: Peaks Of Telluride,” all on Sugar Hill Records.
