ACUTABMandolin legend Herschel Sizemore’s first set of authorized transcriptions!
Serious students of bluegrass history often see Herschel as the first stylistic
deviation from the Bill Monroe school within the realm of traditional bluegrass
mandolin. His playing is crisp and clear and always melodic and memorable. Herschel's
influence has now spanned two generations with players from David Grisman to
Chris Thile citing his impact on their music.
Included in this 70 page book are more than 30 solos for 13 tunes taken from
Herschel’s two great recordings, Back In Business and My Style. Learn Rebecca,
Grey Eagle, Amandolina and many others in the distinctive and influential Sizemore
style. All tunes are presented in both tab and standard notation and were carefully
proofed with Herschel to ensure accuracy. Left hand fingering and pick direction
is included where indicated.
Don’t miss this important book! Together with the two Sizemore CDs (also available
from AcuTab), Herschel's book offers a blueprint for tasteful mandolin playing
in the bluegrass style. Most of the material will be within the reach of advanced
beginners, and experienced players will find a feast of inspiring and challenging
music.

Herschel Sizemore is widely recognized, among musicians, as a master on the
mandolin, and by a great following of fans for his ability to play clean, clear
bluegrass. Herschel had an extended run with the Bluegrass Cardinals in the early
to mid 90's. He also played with Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys, with
Del McCoury's Dixie Pals and was one of the founding members of the great Shenandoah
Cutups. As the title of this album denotes, Herschel has a style all his own
on mandolin. He is creative in his playing, and has a talent for writing instrumentals,
which is unusual in this day and time. On this album, Herschel presents eight
of his original compositions, six of them never before recorded.
