Level 3
80-minute DVD or VHS, Includes music + tab book

Jack Casady shares his ideas and techniques with learning bassists. In an informal and delightful session (Jorma provides vocals and guitar along with companionable commentary), Jack analyzes his bass parts for classic tunes from the Hot Tuna repertoire, and discusses the musical concepts that make up his unique style -- melodic lines, tonal variety, chordal work and improvisational solos. You'll see all of Jack's tricks: the use of partial chords, sustained notes, tremolos, trilling, tonal variety and many other fascinating devices.

Songs include "Ninety-Nine Year Blues," "Blues in A," "San Francisco Bay Blues," "Been So Long," "Mann's Fate" and "Water Song."

Review:

"Some videos teach you how to play bass. Other videos teach you how to play bass with style. The Bass Guitar of Jack Casady is a video that gives you the opportunity to learn the playing styles of one of our instrument's living legends. Jack Casady is accompanied by guitarist/ vocalist Jorma Kaukonen and together they walk you through several of their classic songs. Any level of player should be able to learn something new from Jack and Jorma." - Bass Frontiers

About Jack Cassady
Jack Casady has been a mainstay on the rock ‘n roll scene since the mid-60s, when he helped found one of the seminal bands of the era, Jefferson Airplane. He and Jorma Kaukonen left to form Hot Tuna, still going strong after well over twenty albums. RCA recently released “Tuna In A Can,” a “canned set” of their first five albums. Jack and the other members of Jefferson Airplane were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. Look for the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature semi-acoustic bass.
