Going to the next level, Mark explores techniques such as 3/4 time, walking bass lines using chromatic scales, "slap" bass, syncopations, hammer-ons, pull-offs and more. He also covers bass set-up, actions, miking and gives full band demonstrations of Darlin' Cory Is Gone; Cry, Cry Darlin'; White Dove; Foggy Mt. Special.

Mark teaches basic patterns and scales, fingerings, passing notes, chord progressions, walking lines, arpeggios and other important subjects. He shows how the bass works in a bluegrass band context and provides innumerable tips on music theory and playing ideas.

Bassist Mark Schatz has been in high demand on the Nashville bluegrass and new acoustic music scene for many years. Although best known for his five years of touring and recording with the Tony Rice Unit, his other credits include work with Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglas, David Grier, Emmylou Harris, Tim O'Brien, Peter Rowan, the O'Kanes and Jonathan Edwards.
