as played by one of the hottest players on the scene today. Béla Fleck
shows you stylistic innovations that will add sparkle and interest to your playing,
as well as several great tunes. He covers bluegrass, single-string picking, harmonics,
Keith Tuners, blues improvisations and fabulous tunes such as "Texas Bar-B-Que," "Brilliancy," "Natural
Bridge Suite," "John Henry" and "The Wind That Shakes The
Barley." Watch Béla's fingers as he slows down and explains the licks
for which he's become famous.
Béla
Fleck has revolutionized the place of the 5-string banjo in contemporary music.
An accomplished composer and banjo virtuoso, Béla's complex and lively
blend of music was originally inspired by influences as varied as Earl Scruggs
and Charlie Parker. Béla played banjo with New Grass Revival for eight
years and his debut release with The Flecktones earned him a Grammy nomination
for Best Jazz Instrumental Composition. He was #1 on the Jazz Charts and Frets
Magazine initiated him into its "Gallery Of The Greats."
