Tony Trischka - AcuTab Transcriptions, Vol. I
ACUTAB
Transcribed from the playing of
Tony Trischka
Finally... a Christmas banjo book featuring tabs from one of the most creative
forces in modern banjo music. In this volume (which contains transcriptions from
Tony's Rounder CD Glory Shone Around: A Christmas Collection ), are arrangements
of 10 holiday classics plus a bevy of tunes which Tony selected for this recording
which reflect Christmas and/or wintertime themes. There are pieces in a 'standard'
roll-style, plus some melodic tunes, and even some examples of 'turn-of-the-century'
parlor-style banjo. Lots to interest and challenge in a variety of styles - at
any skill level - and in a variety of keys. The book also includes a bonus section of 7 carols not found on the recording
which Tony arranged especially for beginning/intermediate players.
22 songs - 34 solos; 42 pages.

"As much as I would like to tell you that these transcriptions are a Sunday
stroll through light powdery snow, please know that a reasonable number of the
solos are a bit difficult and will require repeated listenings to firmly plant
the notes in your ear (where they truly belong). Equipped with those inner tones,
you can begin to wend your way through the tab, knowing that your fingers will
have a head start on their wintry journey.
Now, put on your mukluks, your
fur-lined picks, bolt down a hot toddy and let's go!"

and without Tony, none of what's happened with my music would have happened."
